Week of May 11 — Lay the Foundation: Start Building
Hello Caiman Football Families,
We are excited to begin our first week of Spring Football practices.
Last week, we came together to set the foundation. Now we take the next step—we start building.
This Week’s Focus: Learn
As we step onto the field for the first time this spring, our focus is simple:
Learn the game.
This week is about:
- Learning terminology
- Understanding alignment and assignments
- Building basic fundamentals
Players should expect to make mistakes—and that is exactly what this time is for.
We are teaching, not testing.
What to Expect This Week
Our practices will be structured around instruction and repetition. You will see:
- Coaches breaking things down step-by-step
- Players learning new concepts and positions
- A focus on doing things the right way, not the fast way
No one is expected to have everything figured out right now.
You don’t need to be perfect—you need to be willing to learn.
For Our Players
If you are feeling unsure or behind, that is completely normal.
Many of our athletes are learning football for the first time or continuing to build their understanding. Growth comes from:
- Asking questions
- Staying engaged
- Being coachable
The players who improve the most are the ones who stay consistent and open to learning.

Everything we introduce now will continue to build through the summer. This is not a one-week install—this is a process that carries all the way to July 31.
We are not starting over each week—we are building on what we learn.
