XC Safety Info 7/30

Good morning,
A tsunami advisory was issued yesterday, but has since been lifted on San Diego coast lines. I’m keeping a close watch, but it seems like there won’t be any concern at this time. We are still set to meet 4pm today at the Tin Fish (underneath Oceanside Pier).
Although the tsunami watch has been lifted, there is still concern of abnormal tides & currents. We aren’t doing any swimming in practice & I would recommend students stay out of the water after practice to be safe.
Lastly, a few notes of safety:
1) Always listen to your coaches’ directions on the running routes. If we lose you and you went to a different route than I prescribed, we will have no way to quickly find you!
2) ALWAYS have a running buddy. It doesn’t have to be exactly side-by-side, but close enough to call out to your coach/teammate in case of emergency.
3) Cross Country is a hard sport with difficult training— you MUST prepare for practice by adequately fueling and hydrating BEFORE and AFTER practice. You will NOT be allowed to run if I hear you didn’t eat / hydrate beforehand.
In the XC resource packet I have a list of other safety tips that will be useful to your student athletes. Please reach out to me for any concern or questions you have!
