Week of August 17 — Focus
A blade keeps its edge through constant care. Left unattended, even the finest steel becomes dull.
The same is true of a football team. As the excitement of a new season settles into routine, distractions begin to compete for our attention. School, social media, fatigue, outside expectations—none of them have to be bad to become a distraction. The teams that continue to improve are the teams that remain focused on what matters most.
At Caiman Football, focus means giving your full attention to the task in front of you. It means being present in meetings, locked in during drills, and committed to doing your job on every play. We don’t waste energy worrying about the scoreboard, the standings, or what others think of us. Our attention belongs to today’s work.
When everyone is focused on doing their job, the team becomes stronger than any individual.
Ask yourself: What deserves my attention today, and what needs to be ignored?

- Listen to every coaching point with the intent to improve, not just to hear it.

- Help a teammate stay focused when you see them losing concentration.
