Swim & Dive News 3/9
Hello Caimans!
What a great first week of March we had! Lots of people showing up together and working hard as a team. Our word of the week this week is RESPECT. Think of all the ways you can show respect to your teammates, coaches, parents/family and teachers. I will be asking randomly during practices and you can share how we can show respect both in and out of the pool.
ATTENTION CLUB SWIMMERS: Please make sure you are “unattached” for any USA Swimming meets you may compete in during our high school season. This goes all the way through May 9th. I cannot stress enough how important this is. If you do not know how to do this, please see me ASAP. This does not include SWGGR. If you are NOT a club swimmer, please do not worry about this.
Two very important things /changes this week: The HIgh Tech High Meet changed from Monday 3/23 to that Friday 3/27- Same place and time. It is noted on the schedule as well. Coastal Meet was changed to Tuesday 4/7 (which I mentioned last week). Everyone is needed at the Coastal meet since it is a league meet. 🙂
If you have not ordered your team suit, please do so THIS week since our first meet is next week! 🙂
Here is what we have for the upcoming week:
Monday 3/9- weight room 2:00-3:00 weight room at Studio then swim at Stone 3:30-5:00pm (please note the early release time on this day).
3/10 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/11 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/12 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/13 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/13 Team bonder at Pelly’s mini golf! 6:30pm start time (until about 8:00pm)- cost is $10- send to Coach Rivas because I have to pay all at one time- you can give me cash or venmo me. Let me know if you need that info! I will list who I have attending in the GroupMe. Parents are invited to play a round as well. Cost for parents is $11 and you can give it to Coach Rivas up until Thursday.
3/14 Sun Devils Invitational 3/14. This is a great experience to get out those “first swim meet jitters” if you have not competed before. It is also a great way to experience prelims and finals. I have a van leaving studio campus at 6:30 am. Our warm up is at 7 am so if you are not riding in the van, you need to plan on being there at 7:00 am ready to get in and warm up. Everyone swims all of their events and if you make top 16, finals start warming up at 3:45pm. There is a small break in between prelims and finals, so you can bring food if you wish or money and we can see if there are places nearby to go to. If your families are there, you can also go eat with them during the break.
Next week:
3/16 Monday weight room 2:00-3:00 weight room at Studio then swim at Stone 3:30-5:00pm (please note the early release time on this day).
3/17 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/18 First Dual meet versus Escondido Charter at James Stone Pool. We are dismissed from campus at 1:45, go to Stone pool, start setting up at 2:00-2:30 and warm up 2:30-3:00. We are slotted to start at 4:00pm. We should end somewhere between 6:00-6:30. Please make sure you have signed up to help at our home meet. We only have four home meets this year. We need timers mostly. The sign up genius is at the top of the GroupMe chat.
After swim meet we will be eating at Farmer Boys 1333 E. Valley Parkway Esco
(you can also order food anytime during the day, just mention our team)
3/19 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
3/20 swim practice at Stone pool 3:30-5:30 pm
Spring break is coming up- please take notice on the main schedule our times we are swimming (as they are different and longer) during that week. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. 🙂
Let’s Go Caimans!!
